Bryan Wilson Through Young Eyes January 16, 2008

I was the youngest of four in which Sam was a part of ALL of my older siblings(Wayne, Tammie, and Pat) lives. You were around so much that it just seemed natural to think of you as a brother, a part of the family. I remember the high school football games, the wrestling matches, and even when you and Wayne worked at Garcia's together.

Later in my life I remember working together at the Olive Garden, then going for some beers at Neimans (With Pat). When I heard of your passing, the first thing that I remembered about you was your contageous smile.

Sam: I will never say Good-Bye, but it is with a heavy heart that I say "I'll see ya later!!!" Look down on your family and friends. And give them strength. You were too young to go home, but in your short life, you touch so many.

Sam, the memories I have of you and your family will always be in my heart and mind. You were a special part of my years at Carlsbad High School, and I will never forget the wide array of fun time we shared together. From the hard work we did building our class float at your home, to football games, to eating at That Pizza Place, and last but not least, to the wonderful Christmas Eve's we use to spend with your family. To this day my favorite homemade cookies are your mom's Buffalo Monsters. She made them for us ofter and I remember the day she gave me the recipe. She hand wrote it on a recipe card, which I still have and use often. Sam, while we did not stay in touch over the years, I am sad that your life ended so quickly and I am deeply sorry for the pain your family is experiencing. They will miss you, and so will the world. Thank you for the wonderful memories. Your buddy, Linda Brill-Rohlinger (class of 1983)
Patricia Burden You will be missed! January 16, 2008
How saddened I was to hear of Sam's passing. His death has left a very real void in the lives of his family and friends. I count myself as both- a family member and friend. As I reflect on the past, I realize what gratitude I possess for having known Sam both as a student and as a part of his family. To have had the opportunity to watch him grow and develop into a mature adult was a privilege. As a student, he was a person of intelligence, integrity and always anxious to help. Sam possessed a warm and caring personality. His love for family and friends was very evident. His since of humor and captivating smile only provide memories of happy times. These traits were only enhanced as he ventured into adulthood. As you celebrate the life of Sam Dawe, know that many certainly bear your burden. He was loved by all who knew him. As I mourn with you, know that you are also in my prayers. Call on me as you need. "Each life touches this world in a way no other can, leaving not only wonderful memories, but lasting imprints in our hearts."....and that is where we hold Sam- in our hearts.

I am sorry that I will not be able to attend Sam's services, unfortunately I am in Iowa attending another funeral.  I have not seen Sam as recently as most, but it is obvious that the same traits that made him special as a wrestler, made him special as a man.  It was such an honor to have been his coach and watch him develop from beginner into CIF place-winner.  Sam's hard work and committment were a special part of one of the best Carlsbad wrestling teams ever.  As a parent, I can imagine the impact of this loss.  Few know the impact Mike Dawe had on my career and I will always owe a special debt to both Sam and Mike.  My sincerest condolences to the entire family.

Max hamblin "Barefoot Fighter" January 15, 2008

Living with Sam in San Luis Obispo, he was the best barefoot fighter in Bull's Tavern! Always a kind heart and a thirst for a cold beer! Hadn't talked to him in a number of years, but still remember those late night beer runs, "trying" to get into shape, our Super Bowl party of 92', his love for his brother, and the events that took place at the Lima house.

Thanks Sam,

We'll miss you!

My thoughts and prayers are with all of Sam's family. Unfortunately, I won't be physically at the service for Sam, but I will be there spiritually.( He knows that.)Sam was a great man and a true friend! No matter what he or I ever did or went through, it didn't change a thing. Being able to accept, forgive, tolerate and LOVE is what life is all about. He knew how to live the right way. I'll miss him and look forward to seeing him again in the other life.
Love you,
Yvette

My condolences and prayers to Sam's family and multitude of friends.

When I joined the Air Force, I didn't get the opportunity to run into Sam as often as I was used to....that would have been everyday!  But I have many memories of Sam and my brother Wayne's friendship throughout their high school days and beyond.  They were constantly together, and I mean constantly!  I really thought that my parents had adopted another boy into the family and were afraid to tell me (I already had three brothers and I was the only girl!). On top of that, I thought Wayne changed his name to "Dude" without notifying the rest of the family! Everytime Sam walked through the front door he was looking for "Dude". This is what I'd hear: "Dude, let's go", or "Dude, we kicked butt tonight" and when he was the best man at my brother's wedding and saw the ring bearer's tux "Dude, you got him tails....WAY COOL!!!!". T

Who would have thought that you would be reading this from somewhere too distant for myself to even understand why the f you are there, but i miss the ridiculous times we had, the lunchboxes and how much you were able to put everyone before yourself and see the good in people. You were truly a money character and will never never forget all the good openings, closes and just fun we had in and out of that hole. All my love to you my friend and your family. I guess I don't need to mention how much you are missed, until then.  Morris.
